Get ready to cruise down memory lane! Join us for an unforgettable Sunday evening of classic 1970s soft rock as Ventura Highway takes the stage at Newport Beach's premier live music supper club, Campus JAX. This performance is a special hometown celebration for the band's leader! The show stars award-winning guitarist Jeff Ellis—the band's sole Newport Harbor High School alumnus—who has assembled an elite lineup of Southern California's finest, heavily credentialed musicians to bring this music to life: • 🎸 Jeff Ellis (Lead Guitar & Vocals): Our very own Newport High alumnus and award-winning guitarist (LA Music Awards, All Access Magazine). Jeff brings the unmistakable warmth and intricate guitar work essential to the iconic America sound. • 🎤 Michael Olivieri (Vocals, Keys, Guitar): A true rock heavyweight, Michael is widely recognized as the original founding frontman of the progressive heavy rock band Leatherwolf. He also shared his world-class talents on the road as a touring member of Jack Russell’s Great White. • 🎸 Jim Wootten (Bass & Vocals): Jim comes from music royalty—his father was the legendary jazz bassist Red Wootten (who played with Frank Sinatra), and his uncle and aunt were none other than the famous Les Paul and Mary Ford! Jim brings incredible depth to the stage, having also spent over two decades touring with the world-famous Led Zepagain. • 🎸 Joey Alva (Guitar/Bass): Renowned Southern California performer known for his exceptional groove, diverse musical background, and commanding stage presence. • 🥁 Kevin Herrera (Drums): Driving the rhythm section, known for his precision and elite work with major West Coast tribute acts.
Together, this powerhouse lineup faithfully recreates the rich, soaring vocal harmonies, acoustic multi-guitar layers, and breezy California spirit that defined an entire era. You'll hear flawless live renditions of America's greatest hits, including "A Horse with No Name," "Sister Golden Hair," "Tin Man," "Lonely People," and, of course, "Ventura Highway."
